Dr. Ballesteros is a licensed clinical and sport psychologist specializing in working with elite level athletes with a focus on mental health and performance related concerns. Dr. Ballesteros adopts a multiculturally sensitive and collaborative approach within his clinical work. Dr. Ballesteros attempts to meet his clients where they are at on their well-being journey. He strives to foster a safe and inclusive space within his setting and is open to working with any current or former athlete who is seeking support or assistance.

Dr. Ballesteros currently serves as a bilingual Sport Psychologist for the Chicago Cubs. He provides mental health and mental performance services in both English and Spanish to players within the organization. Prior to his current role, he was Coordinator of Athletic Counseling services at Pepperdine University within their Counseling Center and Athletics Department. Jorge completed his postdoctoral training at Stanford University working, fully embedded within athletics.

Jorge received his bachelor’s degree in Psychology from UC, Santa Barbara, followed by dual master’s degrees from Ball State University in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Kinesiology with an emphasis in Sport Psychology. Continuing his education, he completed his doctoral training at Arizona State University within their Counseling Psychology Ph.D. program. Dr. B, finished his predoctoral training at Cal State Northridge within their Counseling Center.

Jorge has a strong interest and passion in working with student-athletes, specifically athletes of color. Dr. Ballesteros is passionate about providing services in both Spanish and English. He has experience in working with Olympic, collegiate, and high school athletes on various issues.
His clinical interest include anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use, and disorded eating. Dr. Ballesteros takes an integrated approach adopting a multicultural approach, aspects of Acceptance and commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and interpersonal process therapy.
